The AIRCRAFT C.A.S.A. 1.131 E3B was in service with the Spanish Air Force from 01/13/1954 to 06/18/1962. 01/28/1996: aircraft total time: 1647:50 hours
The entire aircraft was completely disassembled, inspected and repaired as follows:
- The FUSELAGE was un-covered, all parts removed and the steel-frame was paint-stripped. All weldings were thoroughly inspected for cracks and irregularities with magnifying glasses (10x). Any discovered cracks were rewelded. The steel-frame then was primed with epoxy and spray-painted. The wood-structure was completely rebuild and sealed with epoxy-varnish. All hatches, doors and fairings were re-newed.
- The LANDING GEAR was completely disassembled, inspected, and repaired. A new "Cleveland wheels and brakes"-system was installed.
- POWER PLANT: A major overhauled Lycoming O-360-A4A was installed including a new engine-mount and a "Christen" inverted oil system.
- The WINGS and EMPENNAGE were completely stripped, cleaned and repaired. The entire Aircraft was re-covered with "Stits" (Polyfiber) HD 2x2 covering material; according to the "Stits aircraft re-covering manual". For final coating and finish of the Polyfiber "Polytone" was applied.
- The pitot-, static, electric- and fuel-system were replaced completely by new systems. New instrumentation is installed. All the hardware was cleaned, inspected and cad-plated before re-installation. All flywires and control-cables are new.
All the repair-work and alterations were conducted according tỏ: "FAR/AC 43-13-1A and 2A"
